This post has been long overdue. It’s one of my finest collections both for it’s uniqueness and variety of selection. Time and again, popping in this genre playlist has proven a favorite for chilling with a group of people. I recommend it for your post-rave wind down music while lighting up for for an end-of-the-night sesh.

Synthpop is defined by a chill and upbeat synthy sound with BPMs typically ranging from 100-128 (a little slower than house) and frequently includes vocals; like a blend of electronic-pop and indie, think anything from Passon Pit, Miike Snow, Gigamesh, or Empire of the Sun. Because of the ambiguity of the genre, the songs of the MyShuffle synthpop collection have been gradually amassed over the years resulting in a wide variety of artists and a lot to love. These songs are super hand-picked, I promise you will enjoy this one:

This is my first Genre Collection post on MyShuffle. As part of my effort to bring you the best of best from the EDM world, I will periodically throw up a selection of one of the many carefully cataloged genres of my library.

First up is a dubstep collection that’s a little different than most dubstep that comes out these days. Back in 2007 when dubstep was just starting to lay a foundation as a mainstream EDM genre, it had a chilled progressive deep bass sound to it (see Rusko & Caspa’s 2007 FabricLive.37); almost a monotonous tide of womps and wobbles.

Today’s dubstep is much more dynamic, which has made it the popular music genre the electronic world has come to know. This collection has that more modern spin on the classic dubstep sound, hold the Skrillex electro grinds and brostep whining beats. I included a decent variety of artists in this short collection as well as songs ranging from back in the day to put out this year. This handful pays homage to the inaugural days of dubstep and will whet the ears of any of today’s dubstep fans. Enjoy:

But really, the moombahton genius is back with a new EP and the epic grandness that is his sound. The bass pounds, the moombah hops, and as always is his style, the synths are upbeat and eerie. This is the first moombahton post on MyShuffle so if you aren’t familiar, do yourself a favor here or here.

The EP came out today. I’m partial to the opening entry “Falling Up.” Check it out:

These guys got their start with production just last year and their stable of jams has become quite impressive. They have a calm style to their dubstep, almost peaceful in spite of their uber-wobbly basslines. Their favorite songs to remix are indie, which adds to their unique, addictive style. I love dropping in one of their songs to transition out of some hip-hop when I’m spinning. They’ve been blowing up Hype Machine and just set off on tour. These guys are another one to watch and impress me with each new song they’re turning out almost every other week. MyShuffle approved, here are my favorites:

Last fall, an Avicii song popped up on the internet titled “Three Chord Revolution.” A few months later another Avicii jam called “The New Day (2012 Edit)” came out. Sure enough, like another falsified Daft Punk song, these songs were not Avicii. The practically unknown Polish producer Cherry Coke claims this mistaken praise.

This progressive house artist has been making clubby house anthems since 2009. His mastered works which number over 40 remixes and original songs have Avicii’s distinctive uplifting choruses and synthy builds with a decidedly more electro drop akin to Alesso. Unlike these club house greats, you won’t find Cherry Coke’s songs posted all over YouTube and Zippyshare. Recent hits like “Milky Way” and “Take It To The Top” that earned the Avicii mislabels above and the latter a spot on Avicii’s radio show Levels above have turned some ears. He has also announced an upcoming EP with label TUFFEM UP! records. The albums artwork is pictured above and the release date is yet to be announced.

Finding his MP3′s took me deeper than your typical Google search and quickly proved everything he touches is gold. Today’s MyShuffle collection is my selection of the best of his best. Let me be the first to say, all comparisons aside, Cherry Coke is a great artist you’ll be hearing a lot more about soon.

Download: Cherry Coke collection

Cherry also put out what is possibly my favorite song of his to date just a few days ago on his SoundCloud. Check it out:

Angger Dimas)” and the dubstep banger ”Ooh (ft. Rob Roy),” though I could do without Rob Roy’s verses (Hint: someone remix that shit!!).

The long-haired owner of Dim Mak is also hosting a remix competition of “Ladi Dadi (ft. Wynter Gordon),” which got the music video treatment. The contest runs through February 6th and the winner will be announced March 13th. Fortunately for us, the song has already been mixed by the professionals including Tommy Trash and Pixel Cheese on Steve’s Ladi Dadi Remixes album that came out two days ago. Autoerotique’s offering on the album blows away the other remixes and any original song on the Wonderland album in my opinion. Check it out:

My next backlogged collection is from Steve Angello’s 2011 live show at Congress Theater in Chicago during his SIZE MATTERS tour with Max Vangeli & Angello’s younger brother, AN21. The show was one of the best I went to this year and among my top 3 all time. I’m typically partial to heavy electro and hard house for personal listening, but this concert gave me an intense appreciation for a lighter house style; the clubby progressive house styles Angello and Swedish House Mafia are known for. Within a week following the Thanksgiving break show, I had added 2 gigs of music to my collection including a majority from the show’s setlist and pieces from artists like Axwell, Alesso, Hardwell, Dirty South, Tommy Trash, and Thomas Gold who I had seen for the first time earlier that break. This collection is a must have in your collection and much more than a live setlist. And remember EDM fans, MyShuffle is greater than yours…

This is the first of a few belated posts I’ve decided to add to this blog. MyShuffle has long been a mental work-in-progress and the culmination of a number of friends who have asked me for music. One of the collections I threw together was from Carl Cox’s North Coast Music Festival set at Union Park in Chicago. The set was about an hour long and the absolute highlight of our day among other greats such as Major Lazer, Zed’s Dead, Fatboy Slim, and an excellent live electro performance by Felix Cartel. NCMF was the first time I’ve seen Cox live and heard his unique British house style. There is something about the way the jolly giant bounces with his upbeat set. He’s been one of the longest in the game and his experience shows. His selection was all uniquely Cox including classics like “Percolator” and “Let Me See You Work”. I tracked down some of the other hits from his setlist for you to enjoy here:
